Jeffrey Epstein, the American financier accused of running an international sex ring procuring underage girls for wealthy and powerful men, has 'hanged himself' in his prison cell.
Hanged - Epstein.
Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier, died early Saturday in an apparent suicide, officials said. The well-connected millionaire had been awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges in a Manhattan jail.
The FBI and U.S. Inspector General's office will investigate the circumstances of his apparent suicide while in federal custody, and the probe into the numerous sexual abuse allegations against him will continue, officials said.
Epstein, 66, was a hedge fund manager whose friends included President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, and Britain's Prince Andrew.
Few believe it was suicide.
His death comes less than 24 hours after 2,000 documents were unsealed containing names of people accused of using his underage sex slaves.
One of Epstein's sex slaves, Virginia Giuffre (nee Roberts), claims she was forced on numerous occasions to have sex with Prince Andrew, when she was only 17.
The Prince denies the allegation.
With Epstein dead, investigators now shift their 'full attention' to his alleged 'madame', Ghislaine Maxwell (below, right), socialite daughter of the late, disgraced British publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell.
