A family GP with an unblemished 23-year record is to quit the medical profession following a complaint of 'racial discrimination' by a female Muslim patient.

During a consultation last June, Dr Keith Wolverson (below) had politely asked the woman to lift her veil so that he could properly hear her describe her sick daughter's symptoms - essential for him to make an accurate diagnosis.

Afterwards the Muslima said she felt 'victimised and racially discriminated' by Dr Wolverson, and so her husband decided to lodge a complaint.

It seems that even free healthcare by a caring, dedicated doctor is insufficient to placate such whining, vindictive ingrates.

Understandably Dr Wolverson, threatened with disciplinary action that could result in him being struck off, has decided to resign from his job at Royal Stoke University in Stoke-on-Trent in protest at his despicable treatment.

He said:

A doctor's quest to perform the very finest consultation for the safety of the patient has been misinterpreted in a duplicitous manner to suggest there has been an act of racism committed. I absolutely no longer want to be a doctor.

Unfortunately, he's not the first to be targeted for non-compliance with this medieval Islamic custom.

Last year, a Bristol bus driver was accused of 'racism' after he asked a female passenger to remove her veil, and she took offence:

I've been humiliated in public, and I'm disappointed. It's 2018, we shouldn't be like that. I'm being stereotyped.

(Seriously, 2018 - in that garb!?)

Naturally the driver's employer, First Bus, cravenly apologised to the woman and disciplined him.

We've now reached a situation where decent, hard-working Britons can be hounded out of their jobs for refusing to accept alien practices that have no place in our society - and in this case pose real risks to safety and security.

(The irony is that even imams disagree as to whether face covering is scripturally mandated.)

A mere complaint by a Muslim can destroy a person's livelihood and reputation.

And it's all down to the establishment's (admittedly well-founded) fear of violent Muslim reaction to offence.

It has to stop!

People of other cultures who want to live in Britain must make concessions to our culture, our values.

There is no other way.

To demand that British society adapt to imported beliefs and customs is not just unreasonable, but profoundly and unacceptably arrogant.

Those who want a fully Islamic life with Sharia Law, halal slaughter, giant mosques, wailing muezzins and sackcloth-covered women have scores of Islamic countries to choose from.

We suggest they avail themselves of that choice.

Meanwhile, Britain should follow France's lead and ban the burka and niqab outright.
