The following petition has been sent to the Home Secretary, the Rt Hon Priti Patel MP:

Dear Home Secretary,

Over the past few weeks we at Britain First have been gathering signatures for a petition concerning the shutting down of all sharia courts in the UK.

At the time of writing we have 5660 signatures, and as Campaigns Officer I have been asked to forward the petition to you for your consideration.

I hope that you will be able to give this petition your most serious consideration, as the continuing existence of these sharia courts effectively constitutes a parallel legal system at odds with British law in many important respects, especially in regards to discrimination against non-Muslims, women, and gays.

Allowing them to flourish will do nothing for our much-vaunted 'community cohesion' and will only increase the divisions and tensions in our society by discouraging integration and assimilation into mainstream British culture.

There should be one law - British law - for all.
