Who'll be on the new £50 note - Mary Seacole or Jagadish Chandra Bose?
Politically correct establishment virtue signallers are demanding that a 'person of colour' appear on the planned new £50 banknote.
As part of the 'Banknotes of Colour' campaign, more than 100 MPs, Lords and Ministers have signed a letter calling for the Bank of England to choose a 'diversity candidate'.
Unfortunately for them, all but a handful of the 989 nominees on the shortlist are white males - unsurprising, since the theme was scientific achievement.
Nevertheless, their badgering of Bank of England Governor Mark Carney appears to be paying off, as Carney is now hinting at the possibility of featuring 'pioneering scientist' (in reality, assistant nurse to Florence Nightingale) Mary Seacole on the note.
Second favourite is Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, shown in this mock-up design:
You know, Jagadish Chandra Bose - Indian bloke... plant biology, I think... or was it science fiction? You must have heard... Oh, come on!
The winning nominee is to be announced later this year.
