Dr. David Mackereth - a respected doctor with the NHS for 26 years - has been sacked by the Department of Work and Pensions for holding to his Christian beliefs and refusing to use transgender pronouns as part of his job as a Health and Disability assessor.

A judgement by the Employment Tribunal held that Dr. Mackereth's Christian beliefs in regard to transgenderism were 'incompatible with human dignity' and 'unworthy of respect in a democratic society' as laid out in Article 9 ECHR.

This is a perverse judgment that, if upheld, would have profound implications for our Judeo-Christian principles that have served us well for millennia and which underpin our entire Western civilisation.

We call upon the Department of Work and Pensions to assert some common sense, stop this discrimination against Christian beliefs, and reinstate Dr. David Mackereth to his former position immediately.

<p>FOR THE ATTENTION OF THERESE COFFEY, SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WORK AND PENSIONS</p> <p>Dear Ms. Coffey,</p> <p>As you know, Dr. David Mackereth has been sacked by the Department of Work and Pensions for holding to his Christian beliefs and refusing to use 'transgender pronouns'  as part of his job as a Health and Disability assessor.</p> <p>Although the Employment Tribunal found against Dr. Mackereth in the subsequent case for unfair dismissal, the judgment was clearly perverse and will almost certainly be appealed as a consequence.</p> <p>For if Christian beliefs can be held as 'incompatible with human dignity' and 'unworthy of respect in a democratic society',  contrary to Article 9 of the ECHR, then this sets a dangerous precedent.</p> <p>It would have profound implications for our Judeo-Christian principles that have served us well for millenia and which underpin our entire Western civilisation.</p> <p>I urge you, as the Secretary of State for the Department of Work and Pensions to assert some common sense, stop this discrimination against Christian beliefs, and reinstate Dr. David Mackereth to his former position immediately.</p> <p>I look forward to hearing from you at the earliest opportunity.</p><p id="sign_off" class="mceNonEditable">
