It has been reported that there are at least 85 Islamic Sharia Courts operating in this country, some covertly and under-the-radar of British authorities, and some openly, like the Islamic Sharia Council in Leyton, East London.

They constitute a parallel legal system to the British system of law - under which we should all be governed.

Islamic Sharia Law institutionally discriminates against women - and mandates harsh punishments for transgressions, including (but not limited to) amputations and death by stoning.

Islamic Sharia Courts are an affront to any civilised Western society - and Britain First is dedicated to shutting them all down, starting with the Islamic Sharia Council in Leyton, which, as with all other Sharia Courts, should not be allowed to exercise quasi-legal judgments that would disadvantage Muslim women - or anyone else for that matter.

We believe in one law for all - with no exceptions.

<p>FOR THE ATTENTION OF: CLARE COGHILL, LEADER OF WALTHAM FOREST COUNCIL; SIMON MILLER, COUNCILLOR FOR LEYTON WARD; AND PRITI PATEL, HOME SECRETARY:</p> <p>To whom it may concern,</p> <p>It has been reported that there are at least 85 Islamic Sharia Courts operating in the UK which constitute a de facto parallel legal system to our British system of jurisprudence.</p> <p>It has further been reported that the Islamic Sharia Council in Leyton is complicit in the establishment and maintenance of one of these Sharia Courts.</p> <p>Sharia Courts are inherently and institutionally discriminatory - as they must be under the dictates of Islamic Sharia Law - and they disadvantage women, especially Muslim women, by encouraging unjust and misogynistic judgments in various matters (including but not limited to) matters relating to divorce and inheritance.</p> <p>This is intolerable - there should be one law for all, with no exceptions.</p> <p>Sharia Courts have no place in any civilised democratic society, and I demand that you take all necessary steps to disband the Sharia Court run by the Islamic Sharia Council in Leyton.</p> <p>I further demand that you outlaw - and have zero tolerance for - any future Islamic Sharia quasi-legal court process under your jurisdiction that may be considered discriminatory or which runs contrary to British law in any other way whatsoever.</p> <p>I look forward to hearing from you at the earliest opportunity.</p><p id="sign_off" class="mceNonEditable">
