Facebook Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg has defended his decision to encrypt the company’s messaging services, despite concerns about its impact on combating paedophilia and other forms of child exploitation.

This is despite the United States, Britain and Australia having signed an open letter calling for Facebook to suspend its encryption plan, saying it would hinder the fight against child abuse.

It is unacceptable for the world's largest social media platform to continue harbouring paedophiles in this way and to deny law enforcement agencies the opportunity to apprehend them.

We demand that Facebook amend its procedures so that law enforcement can bring these vile, depraved criminals to justice and keep our children safe.
