In the wake of yet another terrorist attack on the streets of London by a known Islamist extremist (who had been released early from prison just a few days prior to the attack) the time has come to ask some hard questions of the authorities.

Why are the authorities permitting over 25,000 known or suspected Islamist extremists to continue walking our streets when at any moment one of them could unleash a devastating terror attack resulting in the loss of life to innocent British citizens?

We demand long-term internment for all known or suspected Islamist extremists.

BORIS JOHNSON MP:</p> <p>To whom it may concern,</p> <p>In the wake of yet another terrorist attack on the streets of London by a known Islamic extremist (who had been released early from prison just a few days prior to the attack) the time has come to ask you some hard questions:</p> <p>Why are you permitting over 25,000 known or suspected Islamic extremists to continue walking our streets when at any moment one of them could unleash a devastating attack resulting in the loss of life to innocent British citizens?</p> <p>Why are eye-watering amounts of tax-payers money being spent on 24/7 surveillance of these extremists when it is obvious that they shouldn't be on our streets in the first place?</p> <p>I understand that a single 24/7 surveillance operation on just one person ties up between 20 and 25 trained officers, and even then, as can be demonstrated in the case of the Streatham terrorist Sudesh Amman, it doesn't prevent a sudden attack on innocent members of the public.</p> <p>The focus must be changed from monitoring these people to removing them from our streets altogether - politicians are very fond of saying that if a criminal is locked up then he can't re-offend - and bearing in mind that rehabilitation projects have been shown to be completely ineffective, this philosophy must now be applied to terrorists for as long as they pose a danger to the rest of us.</p> <p>I herewith demand long-term internment for all known or suspected Islamic extremists - it is infinitely preferable to risking the life of thousands of innocent British citizens over the next 10-20 years - and the cost can now be paid for by savings from money that would otherwise have been paid to the EU.</p> <p>I look forward to hearing from you at the earliest opportunity.</p><p id="sign_off" class="mceNonEditable">
