The British Ambassador to the US, Sir Kim Darroch, is in the spotlight following a leak of confidential information concerning his assessments of the Donald Trump administration.

A series of memos - highly critical of the administration - were circulated to the press, specifically The Mail on Sunday newspaper over the weekend.

The leaked documents cover the period from 2017 to the present day.

One of the memos read as follows:

We don't really believe this administration is going to become substantially more normal; less dysfunctional; less unpredictable; less faction riven; less diplomatically clumsy and inept.

It is not known at this stage who leaked the memos, but one possibility is that they were leaked by a high-level pro-Brexit member of Sir Kim Darroch's entourage.

The British Ambassador is allegedly known for his anti-Brexit stance.
